It is powerful and fast option how to fetch mails into LiveAgent. Compared to periodical POP3 account polling, mails are fetched instantly as they arrive to your mail server. There is zero delay between receiving email on mail server and receiving it in your LiveAgent. The email piping is the best way to import emails into yourhelp desk if speed of reading emails is the most important factor for your business.
Every mail server allows you to execute specific script when new email arrives. In our case it will be script, which processes and inserts email into LiveAgent database. Exact path to this script will be shown in your installation once you select email piping method. Once the email is received by your mail server, it will execute LiveAgent script, which will handle the mail content and store it into LiveAgent as a new ticket or attach it to the existing ticket as a new answer from your customer. There is no general way how to setup mail piping because every server environment has its own rules how to do it. We will try to list some of the most common options in our knowledge base.
